A major project that impacted the park in 2015/16 was the demolition of the Dormitory for Help, also known as the Nurses Dorm. A Friends committee has offered input on the remaining Veranda and the landscaping around the veranda.
In 2017 the building’s veranda remnant will have six information plaques installed to tell the story. Below is a draft of one of the plaques.
UPDATE from 9/22/14 City of Madison Plan Commission (links below) – The Madison Plan Commission unanimously approved the demolition of most of the Nurses Dorm building, the preservation of remnants with historical exhibits, and the storm water management plan. There will be some lighting and one parking space for the handicapped where the propane tanks were located (they have been removed).
